You won’t find us flying through famous and crowdie sightseeing spots. We relish the art of ecotourism, savoring our experience with the special taste and view of every landscape in our route. And although gastronomy and hiking are our specialty, scenic appreciation, culture and unique natural environment play a strong role in our tour.
We meet at the Pelagias yard. We see our checklist for a hat, backpack with water and a camera. Drink an espresso and go.
Drive onto the direction of Patima village where our walking tour begins. A panoramic view of Almyros valley is under our eyes while we face on the left the scenic sight of White mountains foothills.
Then, we head and walk into the unique (“holm-oak”) Azilakas Forest and continue in the shade of its very dense canopy. Azilakas forest is a dense and untouched forest with Holm Oak trees, a large evergreen oak native to the Mediterranean region.
After approximately 1and half hour hiking on a clear path forest ends and alongside vineyards we cross a small valley.
There will be an option for olive oil and food pairing with fresh vegetables at Aghios Stylianos chapel or go direct to Kournas village and among local shops we will have the chance to taste Cretan typical wine and have some rest under the Oak shadow.
Return with a vehicle at Pelagias yard.
